Output Devices

Output Devices

Output devices are hardware components that display or present data processed by a computer system. Here are some common output devices:

1.Monitor/Display:

It is a Visual Display output, including text, graphics, images, and videos, are generated by the computers.

Types include:

  1. LCD (Liquid Crystal Display): Uses liquid crystal cells illuminated by a backlight to display images.
  2. LED (Light-Emitting Diode) Display: Similar to LCD but uses LEDs for backlighting, offering better energy efficiency and contrast.
  3. OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) Display: Employees organic compounds that will emit light when an electric current is to be applied, providing better colours reproduction and contrasts compared to LCDs.
  4. Curved Displays: Screens with a curved shape, providing a more immersive viewing experience.
  5. Ultra-Wide Displays: Monitors with an aspect ratio wider than the standard 16:9, offering more screen real estate for multitasking and immersive gaming.

2.Printer:

Produces hard copies of digital documents, images, and other content.

 Types include:

  1. Inkjet Printers: Sprays tiny droplets of ink onto paper to create images and text.
  2. Laser Printers: Uses toner powder and a laser beam to create images and text on paper.
  3. Dot Matrix Printers: Forms characters and images by striking pins against an inked ribbon, suitable for printing multipart forms and receipts.
  4. 3D Printers: Creates three-dimensional objects layer by layer from digital designs, using materials such as plastic, metal, or resin.

3. Speakers/Headphones:

Output audio for sound playback, including music, voice, and system alerts.

Types include:

  1. Stereo Speakers: Two speakers for left and right audio channels, providing spatial sound reproduction.
  2. Surround Sound Speakers: Multiple speakers are positioned to be a rounded the listener to create an immersive audio experience.
  3. Headphones/Earphones: Personal audio devices worn over or in the ears, providing sound directly to the listener.

4.Projector:

A Projector is a visual output onto a large screen/wall or surface for presentations, movies, and multimedia contents.

Types include:

  1. LCD Projectors: Use liquid crystal display technology to generate images.
  2. DLP (Digital Light Processing) Projectors: Employ digital micromirror devices to produce images.

5. Plotter:

  1. Outputs large-scale graphics and technical drawings with precision.
  2. Commonly used in engineering, architecture, and design industries for printing blueprints, schematics, and maps.

6.Braille Display:

  1. Converts digital text into Braille characters for visually impaired users to read tactilely.
  2. Consists of a series of pins or cells that raise and lower to form Braille characters.

These output devices enable users to view, hear, or interact with the processed data generated by computer systems, enhancing communication, entertainment, and productivity.
