What is DPS(Data Processing System)? discuss about Manual and Electronic DPS.

DPS:

  • Stand for "Data Processing System".
  • It will depend upon the different Elements.
    • Input: When we can enter the data to Computer System.
    • Process: Process it. Convert it.
    • Output: When data process to become Information.

Types of DPS:

There are two types of DPS.

  • Manual DPS
  • Electronic DPS

Manual data processing systems and electronic data processing systems represent two different approaches to handling and managing data.

  1. Manual Data Processing Systems:
    1. Manual data processing systems rely on human intervention for the collection, manipulation, and interpretation of data. This can involve activities such as writing, typing, calculating, and organizing information by hand or using simple tools like paper, pencils, and calculators.
    2. These systems are typically slower and more prone to errors compared to electronic systems because they rely on human effort for every step of the process.
    3. Manual systems may be used when the volume of data is low, or when the cost of implementing an electronic system is prohibitive.
    2.Electronic Data Processing Systems:
    1. Electronic data processing systems, on the other hand, automate the processing of data using computers and other electronic devices. This automation significantly speeds up the processing time and reduces the likelihood of errors.
    2. These systems involve the use of software applications and hardware infrastructure such as computers, servers, databases, and networking equipment.
    3. Electronic systems are capable of handling large volumes of data efficiently, making them essential in environments where data processing requirements are high.
    4. Electronic systems also offer features like data storage, retrieval, analysis, and reporting, which can be challenging or impossible to achieve with manual systems.
